Little Owlie Pattern


Materials:
Yarn of your choice. (I used Red Heart)
Black safety eyes.
Crochet hook. G6 (4.00mm)
Polyester fiberfill.


Stitch explanation: decrease (dec or sc2tog)
In this pattern i used the term dec. It is the same as sc2tog.
Insert your hook into stitch and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next stitch and draw up a loop.
Yarn over , draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Hdc(half double crochet)

Note: All pieces are worked in continuous rounds. You will need to use a stitch marker and move it up as work progresses.


Head: Ch2

Rnd 1: 6sc in 2nd chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *Sc 1, 2sc in next sc* repeat 6 times. (18)

Rnd 4-7: Sc in each sc around. (18)

Rnd 8: *Sc 1, dec 1*, repeat 6 times. (12)

Fasten off and weave in yarn tail.



Belly: 

Ch2

Rnd 1: 6sc in 2nd chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 2: 2sc in each sc. (12)

Rnd 3: *Sc 1, 2sc in next sc* repeat 6 times. (18)

Rnd 4: *Sc 2, 2sc in next sc* rep 6 times. (24)

Rnd 5-10: Sc in each sc around. (24)

Rnd 11: *Sc 2, dec* rep 6 times. (18)

Rnd 12: *Sc 1, dec* rep 6 times. (12)

Fasten off , leaving a long tail for attaching to head.



Eye Rounds: Make 2

Ch2

6 hdc in 2nd chain from hook. Join with a slip stitch to first stitch.

Fasten off and leave a long tail for attaching to head.


Wings: Make 2

Ch2

Rnd 1: 6sc in 2nd chain from hook. (6)

Rnd 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3-6: Sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 7: Dec around. (6)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing to body.

Insert safety eyes into the eye rounds. Attach eyes to head. Sew the eye rounds in place . Embroider beak between eyes. Firmly stuff head.
Firmly stuff body.

Do not stuff wings.

Sew wings to the side of the body.



My little girl absolutely loves these!




She is also my toughest critic.
I can always tell if something I make is kid worthy or not by how interested she is in sneaking them off to her room and playing with them!
The owlies passed the test!

This is great! I've just started learning how to crochet. It took me four hours to complete the first owl head, but I think the next one should come much faster =). Thanks for posting.
